Sweet chestnut is an amazing native species largely overlooked in favour of oak. Although its appearance is similar to that of oak, it has many distinguishing features including better stability and a more decorative grain pattern which make it a perfect Timber for hardwood flooring.
Sweet chestnut flooring is paler than oak and displays striking dark brown mineral streaks which blend with the swirling grain to create a floor with contrast and warmth.
The boards are supplied unfinished and will require sanding and sealing before use. A degree of movement should be expected after fitting and throughout the year as the ambient temperature and humidity vary.
Please note that these product properties are not a replacement for the manufacturer's literature and it is always recommended that Vastern Timber is consulted before specifying.
