Vented Socket Cap Screws

by Fastenright

A2 Stainless Steel Vented Socket Cap Screws, also referred to as Vacuum Socket Cap Screws, created to DIN 912 with a central vent for the removal of virtual leaks.
Typical applications for the vented screw include the semiconductor industry surrounding modern day electronics, sealing vacuum systems and the production of solar panels. They are often used to remove trapped gases at the bottom of blind threads in high vacuum and ultra-high vacuum systems and are most effective when paired with vented washers.
The gases are often left after air voids are unable to fully evacuate when a fastener is threaded into a hole, and a vented screw provides direct ventilation for these voids allowing the gas to fully escape. Over time, vibration may loosen the screw which releases the trapped gas and creates a virtual leak.
Vented socket cap screws are available in A2 Stainless Steel in M3 to M16 from Fastenright, with specials available upon request. They are also available to order in A4 Stainless Steel, and in coatings including silver, gold or nickel plating, and molybdenum or tungsten.
Non-standard sizes and materials are available to order, including custom parts made to drawings.
