Shear Screws (Security Snap Off Screw)

Shear Screws are premium one-way permanent security screws for use when maintenance is not required. They are also known as snap-off screws, break-away screws, break off screws and break-away head screws.
These screws are manufactured as dome security fasteners. The security feature is the hexagonal shaped section on the top of the bolt. This is fully tightened with a standard spanner or cross recess driver until the pressure applied surpasses the maximum torque limit, resulting in the hexagonal part of the shear screw snapping (breaking) off leaving a plain, tamper-resistant head.
Due to the security drive design of the shear screw, it is suitable for higher torque applications.
