Security Pin TX Button Reduced Thread Captive Screws host a Pin Torx drive and are often used for safety reasons required by EU law for a range of safety equipment.
These screws host a reduced thread, which is an unthreaded portion beneath the head, stopping the screws from being fully removed from their housing. They can be used alongside Captive Washers to create a self-retaining fastener.
The hexalobular drive, also called security TX, gives the screw its tamper-proof properties. They have been developed to prevent or significantly hinder the possibility of interference with the fixture, aided by the unthreaded portion of the screw.
The employment of a tamper-proof drive on a Security Captive screw is to ensure the installer is the only person able to perform maintenance on the fastener.
Security Pin Torx Button Reduced Thread Captive Screws are often found in industrial machinery and military applications.
