Pin Hex Socket Cap Thread Rolling screws host a 6-point star-shaped head with a centre pin that resists standard torx bits. They require a special insert bit or key wrench to insert and remove.
They are made to DIN 912 standard and are known for their safety and reliability, whilst remaining an economically viable option.
These screws are ideal for applications that have limited access as they require only a small amount of clearance to fasten. They can be used in locations where externally wrenched fasteners are not desirable and will sit flush with the fastening material if used with the head recessed in a counterbored hole.
Thread Rolling screws are typically designed for use with metals, but can be suitable for use with other malleable materials.
They host a three lobe thread design which when inserted into the fastening material, creates it s own threads, pushing any excess material into the relief areas of the screw. This increases resistance to vibration and reduces the chance of the screw becoming loose.
Pin Hex Socket Cap Thread Rolling screws also help to avoid loose chips that are caused by other thread cutting processes, whilst able to be driven into a pre-drilled hole without the need for thread tapping. However an extruded hole may provide extra length and allow for improved retention.
