Floating floor acoustic system: HD1014 Hush System 2003 Overlay

Providing effective sound insulation on separating floors in refurbishment projects constructed using timber joists is easy with the HD1014 Hush System 2003 Overlay.

This fully tested system treats both the floor and ceiling and consists chiefly of Hush-Panel 28 floating floor panels, Hush Seal 20 and Hush Slab 100 sound absorbers fitted to Hush Bar resilient bars. HD1014 is a popular system given the relative ease in which it can upgrade the acoustic performance of traditionally constructed timber joists floors/ceilings. It has been rigorously tested as a complete system, this provides assurance that it will deliver on its stated performance and is fully compliant with the Building Regulations relating to sound insulation - Approved Document E (England & Wales), Section 5 (Scotland) and Part G (Northern Ireland). 

Using Hush Acoustics' own manufactured insulating materials, the HD1014 acoustic floor and ceiling system is created as follows:

• Hush Panel 28, with all T&G joints glued using Hush Bond, is laid over 18/22mm T&G chipboard/plywood or the existing floorboards.
• The perimeters of the Hush Panel 28 sound insulating boards are sealed using Hush Seal 20.
• Hush Slab 100 is then fitted between joists with Hush-Bars screw fixed to the underside of joists at 600mm centres.
• Two layers of 15mm Soundbloc plasterboard are then installed to the underside of the Hush Bars, and all perimeters are sealed prior to skimming.

* Results based on all Hush Components of the Hush System HD1014 being used and installed correctly as per the Hush Installation guides. We recommend that the structure consists of a minimum 200mm timber joist.
