Red Oak - Timber

Most Red Oak comes from the Southern states of North America.
Sapwood is nearly white in colour. The heartwood is brown with a reddish tinge. Generally coarser in texture than American White Oak.
Considered inferior to White Oak for high class furniture. Used for flooring, interior joinery and veneers but not suitable for exterior work because of its lack of durability.
