SX Composite is a multifunctional geosynthetic that combines the reinforcement of a biaxial geogrid with the separation and filtration capabilities of a bonded nonwoven geotextile. By integrating two functions into one product, it simplifies design, speeds up installation and provides long-term reliability in demanding ground conditions.
The biaxial geogrid element interlocks with aggregates, creating a mechanically stabilised layer that spreads loads efficiently and reduces deformation under repeated traffic. This enables thinner granular layers to be specified without compromising performance, delivering both cost savings and carbon reductions. The attached geotextile prevents the migration of fines and allows water to filter through, maintaining the integrity of the sub-base and supporting drainage.
SX Composite is particularly valuable on weaker subgrades where reinforcement and soil control are equally critical. Typical applications include highways, access roads, rail projects, car parks and working platforms. Its combined functions reduce the risk of aggregate loss, soft spots and premature maintenance, extending the design life of infrastructure.
In line with BS 8661:2019 guidance, SX Composite addresses the need for both reinforcement and separation in soils with fines and water movement, offering specifiers confidence in its suitability for complex ground conditions. By removing the need for separate geogrid and geotextile layers, it also reduces handling, minimises installation errors and improves site efficiency.
Available in a range of grades to meet specific performance requirements, SX Composite is CE-certified and supported by comprehensive technical data. Geoworks provides full design support and CPDs to help specifiers integrate the product effectively into projects.
SX Composite offers a practical, sustainable solution for reinforced soil and aggregate structures, delivering durability, efficiency and value through its all-in-one design.
Please note that these product properties are not a replacement for the manufacturer's literature and it is always recommended that Geoworks is consulted before specifying.
