Repair washers, often called Penny washers, have a large outside diameter, larger than the usual diameter found in traditional flat washers.
This flat washer hosts a flat ring which is used to spread the load of a screwed fastening and prevent damage.
The large outer diameter of Repair washers is proportional to the central hole, meaning it is able to distribute loads more evenly.
