Permavent PRO VCL

by Permavent

We all generate moisture in the form of water vapour when we breathe, cook, shower and dry clothing etc. This moisture is attracted to cold surfaces. Moisture can travel through most building products (such as plasterboard, bricks and timber) as it attempts to escape from our buildings. Normally invisible, it is only when this moisture cools that it can be seen as condensation, which damages not only the decoration but also the structure of our buildings such as inside walls and roofs, this is known as interstitial condensation.
Modern construction methods such as increased insulation, air-tight construction and a modern style of living have considerably increased the incidents of condensation in the home. A breather membrane alone will struggle to cope with such large amounts of moisture and can become overloaded.
Because this moisture is present in all buildings a Vapour Control Layer is an important part of modern construction (BS5250). Most VCL s will not allow any moisture to pass through them and it can condensate on the surface whereby the VCL can appear to sweat .
Permavent Pro VCL has been specially designed with the exact amount of breathability required to allow the building to breath, in conjunction with systems such as breather membranes, whilst still protecting the structure from interstitial condensation. The highly technological design of Pro VCL has been specifically developed to remain airtight and in conjunction with the super reflective coating, Pro VCL will reduce heat loss and also save energy.
