American Red Elm has a reddish brown to dark brown heartwood and a greyish white sapwood. It originates in North America and has a straight, uniform grain pattern.
This prime grade wood is suitable for high-end projects due to its excellent finish and grain pattern. The wood is moderately durable and easy to machine although can be difficult to work with.
It glues and polished well.
The wood weighs 37 lbs/ft3 (595 kg/m3).
Stock sizes are 25mm to 50mm thick, 100mm+ wide, 2.150m+ long, and square-edged.
