Elastaseal Inverted Roofing System

by Tor Coatings

Roofing spaces are increasingly being used to house plant and machinery that service the building, or provide a roof terrace that can be used by tenants. Both scenarios would require safe general access and may lend themselves to an inverted or ballasted design. A ballasted roof is one where the roofing membrane is overlayed with paving slabs or gravel. As the waterproofing system below is protected from all contact, UV degradation and temperature extremes, the system can be expected to have a life in excess of that expected of a normal liquid waterproofing membrane.

When used in combination with the appropriate insulation and finishing materials, an inverted waterproofing system can be easily created and installed to withstand heavy traffic. These inverted roofs are designed to allow compliance with the building regulations (Part L) and increase the thermal efficiency of the building, also reducing carbon emissions.
