Traditional Lipped Casement Windows

by Timber Windows at Harewood

Lipped casement or 'stormproof' windows feature rebated openers which lip over the front face of the window frame. Their place in British fenestration can be traced back to the 1950's when modern production systems demanded a window with greater tolerances that could be manufactured economically in volume.

Many modern Timber window systems, as well as most PVCu and Aluminium replacement windows, are modelled on the lipped casement design and as such 'stormproof' windows have become a familiar feature in British homes.

Internally glazed frames mean the units cannot be removed from the outside of the property.  Our lipped Casement Windows have a fully integrated perimeter locking system - which in English means it has a concealed locking system that wraps around the whole opening window and locks in 5 positions for maximum security and weather tightness.

Our lipped casement windows are all made bespoke, which means you can have them pretty much any size and in any configuration.  We also offer a floating mullion, this means there is no fixed mullion (vertical divide) down the centre which results in a window that works as French Doors allowing you to open the full space.

You can choose from 1000's of colours and a number of stained finishes and can have a different finish inside to outside.  Like all our products we offer this range in Softwood, Hardwood and Oak.

We can offer special security glazing as well as acoustic Glass.
