Thermo Modified wood (also known as thermo wood) has been enjoying a boom in specification and use in cladding and decking projects in the UK.
Thanks to it chemical-free process, thermodified timbers offer an alternative to the standard impregnated timbers.
Thermo modified wood species include:
Ash
Spruce
Pine
Frake
Ayous
Oak is not usually thermo treated as it's already naturally durable. However, the thermo modification process can be used to darken it for architectural purposes.
By using a careful combination of heat and vapour, the heat modification process achieves great stability and durability for projects above ground contact.
Ecochoice has pioneered the market of thermo modified timbers, being the first to offer FSC certified hardwoods apart from the standard Spruce and Pine. Please call us on 03456381340 to enquire about our new Thermodified species.
Please note that these product properties are not a replacement for the manufacturer's literature and it is always recommended that Ecochoice is consulted before specifying.
