Cedar Cladding

by Ecochoice

Cedar has become one of the best-known Timber species for cladding in the UK.
However, few people know that the Cedar Tree used in cladding (Thuja plicata) grows in many different regions of the world. This means each will have its own characteristics due to the local climate and soil: colour, density, knot content, durability, etc.

Canadian Western Red Cedar:

Darker, more colour variation, less knots, denser, durable
Fun Fact: did you know there's also Eastern White Cedar from Canada?

UK grown Cedar:

Lighter colour (cream), more knots, less dense, moderately durable and cheaper
