While we operate some of the largest Piling rigs in the country, we also use some of the smallest, such as the Grundomat system, where equipment is man portable. The 'Micro' prefix however, is a definition of diameter not rig size.

Some projects require very small piles to carry very light loads such as staircases, railway platforms, lamp-posts and sewers. Often there isn t much working space, or it s difficult to get access to the right location.

The Grundomat is hand-held air-driven pile hammer. It can be used in very confined spaces. It is used to install Steel-tube piles.

Micro piles self-drill
Self-drill piles are hollow steel rods, tipped with a different cutting head depending on what is required. These are drilled into the ground either vertically or at an angle. As they are drilled in, grout is pumped down the hollow steel rod to flush out any material. Once the micro-pile is at the right depth, new grout is pumped in.

They are quick and simple put in, using an excavator mounted drill mast or a mini-drilling rig. The piles are small, economical and particularly useful in places where access is difficult such as railway or road embankments, river banks and power stations.
