Continuous Flight Auger

by Cementation Skanska

Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piles are one of the most common techniques in the Piling market. Generally a CFA rig can only bore as deep as its mast is high.

Piles are constructed by drilling with a continuous flight auger to the designed depth, then pumping concrete through the hollow stem of the auger during its extraction. In its simplest form CFA, with its built in Tremmie effect enables rigs to place concrete below groundwater water level, eliminating the need for any form of casing

A computerised automation of the boring and concreting sequence results in the reliability and uniformity of production.

Benefits of Automation
Cementation Skanska has developed an electronic control system called AUTO-CFA . This means pile installation can be controlled automatically by a monitoring computer, removing the need to rely on manual tracking of three or four different sets of information on a screen while forming a pile.

This automatic system provides consistency in pile installation, and Cementation Skanska s CFA piles are today among the most monitored and predictable foundation elements in use.
