Rainwater Harvested Galvanizing

Wedge Group Galvanizing has introduced a number of highly innovative and sophisticated processes to enhance its sustainable qualities. The galvanizing process suffers from significant evaporative losses, and water has to be replenished on a regular basis. Wedge has introduced a sophisticated method of rainwater collection and harvesting, which has been so far adopted at 9 of its 14 plants nationwide. The process involves rainwater falling on the site being collected via gutters then filtered into specially-installed tanks, where it is then stored and re-used within the galvanizing process. This not only replenishes levels lost through evaporation and eliminates run-off from sites, but significantly minimises the need to use mains water.

Wedge Group Galvanizing has management systems and procedures in place to ensure customers receive the best quality galvanizing. These include:-

- Systems based on ISO 9000 which are compatible and flexible to fit with customer Factory Production Control Systems.
- Certification to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (View Certificate)
- Components galvanized to EN ISO 1461 or otherwise agreed specification
- All 14 Wedge plants have a CLASS 1 BATH* with agreed compositional limits and records of assessment retained for 10 years
- Over 50 qualified personnel who are certified to the GA/BCSA Post-Galvanizing Inspectors Course
- Traceability of work maintained in relation to the identified execution class for the components
- Tolerances on work assessed after galvanizing and adverse indicators (e.g distortion) reported to steelwork contractor
- Durability declared – galvanized to EN ISO 1461 or other agreed standard

Customer Focus
To ensure we deliver excellent customer service, each month we randomly survey 140 customers from around the group and we check not only our strengths, but also our weaknesses, and where needed a Continuous Improvement Team at each site will look at where we need to make any changes. We base our surveys on the NPS System and regularly get scores of 80 at our sites.
