Description of natural resources
Mineral residues from the steel industry are mixed with sand, any dyes and water, before being pressed into a brick mould. In a conditioned room with a high CO2 concentration, the brick is cured. CO2 reacts with calcium oxide-containing materials to form a permanent bond, creating carbonated facing bricks.
