James River Virginia Blue is the classic unfading blue grey roofing slate from Buckingham County, Virginia in the United States. This exceptional slate is quarried and fabricated by James River Slate Company®, a subsidiary of Vermont Structural Slate Company. Because of its superior properties, performance and rich texture, architects repeatedly specify this natural slate for institutional, commercial and residential roofing projects, including some of the oldest and most famous buildings in the USA. It is appropriate for both traditional and contemporary architecture. Being an “unfading” slate, this extremely durable material will hold its basic colour after many years of exterior use. James River Virginia Blue is quarried from a 562 acre site at Arvonia in Virginia State. The quarry owner has recently invested heavily in a brand new 8400ft2 manufacturing plant, which will allow the whole process to take place in one location. The basic principle that has taken Vermont Structural slate to being the market leader in the production of Unfading Green and Unfading Mottled (green / purple) market.
