Established in 1989, Secured by Design (SBD) is owned by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and is the corporate title for a group of National Police Projects focusing on the design and security for new & refurbished homes, commercial premises etc fully compliant with PAS023 and PAS024 regulations.
From August 2013 doors for SBD projects have to meet the requirements of PAS024: 2012 (Enhanced Security Requirements) and the material specific door standard, which for Timber doors is BS644: 2012 (which includes testing to BS6375: Part 1, BS6375: Part 2 and any relevant clauses of BS6375: Part 3). In addition the on-going factory production must be subject to regular audits to ensure standards are maintained.
The CERTISCECURE scheme operated by Exova Warrington Certification Limited is an independent third party certification scheme in support of 'Secured by Design' that offers enforcement authorities, architects, specifiers and building owners a high level of confidence that products offer an enhanced level of security, whilst at the same time maintaining fitness for purpose.
