LYTAG LWA floor and roof screeds offer a wide range of benefits including cost and weight savings in addition to considerably enhanced thermal and sound insulation. LYTAG LWA screeds have been specified for and included in a variety of projects. Their distinct and specific advantages have been utilised in many types of building ranging from prestigious commercial and civic developments to schools and hospitals.
Features and Benefits:
Using LYTAG LWA aggregate in appropriate screed systems, weights will be reduced by around 50% over normal sand: cement screeds.
Low Shrinkage Base Coat
Using LYTAG LWA aggregate in the base coat produces a material with very low shrinkage, typically 0.04%.
Using LYTAG LWA aggregate in screeding systems improves the drying and curing process of the screed. This is due to the passage of air through the no-fines base coat and thinner topcoats, typically 15mm.
No Upper Depth Limitation
Using LYTAG LWA aggregate in screeding systems allows greater depths of base coat to be used to enable levels or falls to be formed more easily. Due to the low shrinkage, large bays can be cast in one operation.
Using LYTAG LWA aggregate improves the insulation capabilities of screeding systems. Partially replacing the sand: cement screed with Lytag® LWA no-fines can reduce thermal conductivity of that section by 70 – 80%, depending on the mix used.
Reduces Airborne Sound
Using LYTAG LWA aggregate in the no-fines element of the screed system provides cavities within the system giving better sound insulation properties for given mass / unit area values.
Under Floor Heating Systems
Using LYTAG LWA aggregate within under floor heating systems maximises the efficiency of the system. Heating elements should be placed above the no-fines base coat with a minimum cover of 25mm to the system.
