Our Safetreads range of stair treads are constructed using open mesh steel grating from our Safegrid flooring range with a nosing bar, or sight bar, welded to the front edge and welded integral end plates which are drilled to allow for bolting to stair stringers. Our range of Safetreads steel stair treads should be selected based on the required level of ball proof for the appropriate traffic passing underneath.

The nosing bar or sight bar is supplied along the full width of the leading edge and this is selected depending upon the requirements of the project in terms of slip resistance or high visibility. Our standard nosing options include Liongrip, Durbar or Hi-Vis.

The treads themselves are supplied in standard widths which are determined by the flooring pitch. LK Safetreads (35BP) with a serrated finish offers extra slip resistance in comparison to a plain finish.

Lionweld Kennedy stair treads in 35BP have been designed to help our customer comply with BS4592-0:2006+A1:2012, utilising our compliant Safegrid 35mm BP grating. Our range of Safetreads steel stair treads should be selected based on the required level of ball proof for the appropriate traffic passing underneath. Safetreads 35BP has been designed to be used for access where a walkway or platform is in occasional use, traffic may pass beneath occasionally and where there are no people working below.
