Underneath these air cells, there’s a 4cm foam base, which provides support when the integrated CPR strap is activated in an emergency. After pulling the strap, the mattress is ready for CPR in just 5 to 10 seconds!

The key to this product, however, is the 3 way alternating system. Almost all other mattresses are 2 way, meaning that every other air cell is inflated, whilst the cells in between are deflated to relieve the pressure. With the SOMLENT® Regulator, 2 cells are inflated whilst the next cell along deflates. This means that the mattress has 66-67% body contact at any one time, rather than the industry norm of 50%. The benefits are well-grounded: not only does this provide improved pressure relief; it’s also much more comfortable for the client.

The compressor unit is also designed to offer optimum patient comfort. Much thought and development has resulted in an extremely quiet pump (less than 25 dB), reducing the ‘buzzing’ sensation when lying on the mattress, and enabling sleep without disturbance. The unit incorporates a visual low pressure alarm, and a static mode which is ideal for clients with spinal instability.
