Introduction & Uses

Fernco have designed a range of lateral connection saddle products specifically for smooth plastic and Twin Wall pipes to ensure the market has an ‘off the shelf’ solution for the most common connections. Fernco’s range of saddles for plastic sewer pipes ensure an airtight and watertight seal between a main pipe and a smaller lateral (or branch) pipe.

To ensure Fernco offers its customers piece of mind, all saddles for plastic sewer pipes hold WRc Approval, which is recognised by the UK Water Authorities. Saddles offer the same solution as pipe junctions, for example, lateral pipes from new build houses, road gullies etc need to be connected into the system mains. Both saddles and junctions offer this connection but with clear differences in the installation methods.

Junction method: Excavation of the existing main pipeline around the entire external surface area, a section of pipe cut and removed, and pipe junction lifted into place and connected.

Saddle method: Excavation to a small top section of the main pipeline, a core hole created and the saddle connected into the cored hole.

For Plastic Pipe DN300-600

For DN300 – DN600 plastic pipes, we have a range of saddles called PA (Pipe Adaptor) Saddles, which can be used to create lateral connections.

Fernco have a PA Saddle to suit any DN300 (300mm) plastic pipe, including Ultrarib, Polysewer, smooth PVC and more.

The range of Fernco PA Saddles are used to connect a 160mm outside diameter PVC lateral (or branch) pipe into a larger diameter plastic sewer or surface water pipe. By coring a hole at 177mm, the Fernco PA Saddle can be installed in minutes, followed by the insertion of a 160mm PVC lateral pipe into the PA Saddle. The range boasts a variety of different sizes to cover the most common pipe sizes.

For Twin Wall DN700 and above

Twin Wall pipes from DN700 and above can be connected into using a suitable Fernco UA (Universal Adaptor) Saddle. The Fernco UA Saddle is used to connect a DN150 lateral pipe into a larger diameter Twin Wall, Weholite or Ridgistorm sewer or storage pipe. By coring a hole at 177mm, the Fernco UA Saddle can be installed into a Twin Wall main pipe from DN700 and above. A DN150 branch connection can then be installed using a suitable Fernco coupling. The Fernco UA Saddles contain spacer rings which are interchangeable depending on the application. Fernco prepare all UA Saddles to order to ensure they are application ready prior to delivery.
