The Challenger Fabric Sports Structure

by Collinson Construction

The Challenger fabric sports structure is designed to house indoor sports and leisure activities year-round. The basic structure comprises a strong Steel framework covered with a high-quality architectural membrane. Each Challenger can be adapted to suit the project, with a variety of roof profiles, layouts and cladding options available. Challenger structures can run up to 100 metres clear span and are capable of housing full-sized indoor football and rugby pitches, making Challenger a popular choice for indoor training facilities. The structure can be combined with modular and wraparound ancillaries to provide changing, administrative and social space. Recent examples of Challenger structures include the University of South Wales' new football and rugby training facility; the indoor GAA facility at the National Indoor Arena in Dublin (also the largest tensile fabric sports facility in Europe); and the new indoor tennis facility at Roehampton Club in London.
