Of course as with all our work we carry out we have the necessary professionals to complete the project from initial design stages through planning (if required) right through to completion.

Catton Windows also appreciate the need for orangeries to be functional and add value to your home. With this in mind we use the latest in glass technology for the roof and frames. We can incorporate electric roof vents which are controlled by thermostats and rain sensors. Underfloor Heating can be installed which will give you the climate needed to get the full enjoyment of your room in the winter.

Fast forward to today and an orangery is still designed to look magnificent but is on a far smaller scale to the earlier examples. Now we can build an orangery to compliment almost any home in any situation. Catton Windows have built orangeries using the classic Timber frames with hidden gutter and a lantern roof and also brick parapet Walls again with hidden gutters. All our orangeries are designed with our client s ideas and wishes at the forefront of the process. We can make them modern with very little ornate detail but just enough to set it apart from a normal conservatory or we can design your orangery with dentil mouldings and built up Cornices. Our main priority is the client s needs and wishes.

As fruits became easier and cheaper to import from foreign countries orangeries became far more of a status symbol than of functional use. Mostly holding ornamental plants rather than fruits.

Orangeries originated in renaissance Italy in the 17th Century and were used to grow citrus fruits, hence the name. They were designed to look magnificent and compliment the often grand properties they were built in the grounds of.
