Living walls and urban regeneration
CPD from Biotecture
An exploration of how Green Infrastructure can and should be used to help to regenerate our towns and cities. This session will detail the potential benefits and then explore the potential Green Infrastructure intervention measures including a section on how to safely fix to existing buildings or structures. We will also look at some tools we can use to assess where Green Infrastructure might best be deployed to maximise return on investment. The aim is to give confidence in understanding what is available to green up our existing towns and cities and how we can go about specifying these features in a way that leads to a joined-up network of green spaces.

The Living Wall at Millbrook Roundabout

We have committed to making Southampton a clean, green, sustainable and successful city through our Green City Charter. The Living Wall project at Millbrook Roundabout is the first of its kind in the UK. It’s an exciting way to make our public spaces more attractive whilst at the same time having a beneficial effect on the environment. Investing in greening projects like this will play an important part in safeguarding our local environment for future generations.

Realising the vision for the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Ashford, was always going to be a demanding project but having tackled the hurdles early in regard to managing Client and Centre Managers expectations I have to say that it has gone smoother and looks better than we ever hoped for and that is down to the proactive and experienced involvement from all at Biotecture.

Expertise delivered on time and to a high standard

Living walls formed a key architectural feature at Fosse Park across different locations. Biotecture delivered what they said in terms of seamless design integration and they successfully overcame the challenges of the temperature variations in the atrium. Biotecture’s design and horticultural expertise played an important role in ensuring the project went smoothly, and the installation was delivered on time to a high standard. We’re delighted with the end result.
