Grimsby Institute

CHALLENGE

The Nuns Corner Campus, located in the centre of Grimsby, is the heart of the institution and the main setting for most of the institute’s educational offerings. It is currently undergoing a refurbishment to create a more contemporary space that is suitable for a new generation of students and subjects.

As part of the refurbishment project, it will be receiving a new ceiling package. The architectural team at Farrell and Clark Architects were searching for a complete ceiling solution that had a varied choice of colour options to allow for a creative, vibrant space to be created.

Whilst colour choices were important, it was also crucial for the ceiling solution to provide an acoustically balanced environment that would allow for optimal learning and comfort for students and teachers.

SOLUTION

Farrell and Clark Architects sought a ceiling solution from Zentia due to its huge range of coloured tiles, the largest standard colour choice on the market. They opted for Zentia’s Sonify range of acoustic baffles in a combination of green, pink, red and blue, as well as colour co-ordinating Zentia Aruba ceiling tiles around each area.

The Sonify by Zentia range combines optimal acoustic properties with the opportunity to create ceiling designs that are unique and exciting. Its acoustic panels, baffles and grid capping are available in 35 standard colours, and are easy to install or reconfigure designs.

The preexisting ceiling grid was also a Zentia product, meaning only new tiles had to be installed onto the existing grid for a cost-effective solution. The ceiling is due to be installed by John Atkinson Interiors, members of Zentia’s award-winning Pinnacle Partner Scheme, which means the project can benefit from an exclusive off-cut recycling scheme.
