Replacing an outdated sewage treatment system

In 2020, the Big Cat Sanctuary (Smarden, Kent) decided to upgrade its existing sewage treatment system and replace it with a commercial sewage treatment plant for 60 persons. This upgrade is related to the expansion of the site.

The Big Cat Sanctuary is renowned for breeding endangered felines and conservation work around the globe for big and small cats. 

In September 2020, they reached out to Tricel's installation partner, Flotec Environmental, who specialises in installing sewage treatment solutions, liquid waste management, and disposal in the southeast of England. They have earned a strong reputation combined with experience and a strong work ethic. As part of their main services, they offer servicing and maintenance, repair and refurbishment, and last but not least, installation of sewage treatment solutions which is why The Big Cat Sanctuary contracted them.

From a sewage treatment point of view, the biggest challenge was the fluctuation of the loadings, which happens to be very typical on specific commercial projects. Understanding the site's particular needs, Flotec Environmental suggested a Tricel Optima 60 population Sewage Treatment System, an easy to install, simple yet reliable solution. Its treatment process includes a sludge return system that allows the bacteria to stay fresh and healthy and helps the system cope with the fluctuating loads. The installation took approximately four days to complete.
