What is Secure by Design?

Secured by Design is the official UK police security initiative, established to reduce crime through better design and product specification. Products carrying Secured by Design status have achieved Sold Secure certification and are recognised as Police Preferred Specification, meaning they have been independently tested against a defined tool set and proven to resist determined criminal attacks.

For specifiers working to local planning conditions, client security briefs or Secured by Design development guidelines, these accreditations provide a clear, auditable compliance route.

What’s in the Range?

For the highest level of independently certified shelter security, the Secured by Design Impregnable Cycle Shelter is the only cycle shelter to achieve Sold Secure Gold accreditation – strenuously tested against heavy manual and light electrical tool attacks and approved under the official Police Preferred Specification. The shelter combines certified security with FSC-certified timber cladding, weatherproof construction, and multiple configuration options, including 6-8-space, 10-space, two-tier and fire-retardant variants.

The Secured by Design Sheffield Cycle Stand takes the UK’s most widely installed cycle parking solution and adds Sold Secure Silver accreditation. Available in galvanised or stainless steel, with powder-coated finishes available on the galvanised variant, it suits everything from public realm schemes to residential developments.

For projects where space efficiency is a priority, the Secured by Design Semi Vertical Bike Rack delivers high-density parking in a compact footprint, suitable for standard bicycles and available in an e-bike configuration with integrated 240V charging sockets.
