3 Rivergate is a premium commercial workplace development in Bristol's Temple Quay business district, delivering 75,000 sq ft of light-filled, contemporary office space with cutting-edge design and high-quality amenities. Sustainability and the end-user sit at the heart of the project's brief. BSC was appointed to deliver a cohesive, design-led end-of-trip cycle solution aligned with the building's wider architectural vision, encompassing bespoke lockers and benching in the male and female changing areas alongside dedicated seating in the drying room. The emphasis was on a refined, long-lasting space that complemented the interior design specification while supporting high daily footfall.
Early coordination with 3 Rivergate's architectural team during the initial planning phase was a key success factor. Locker layouts were developed directly from architectural drawings, with careful consideration given to circulation, sightlines, and user flow. Male and female changing room configurations were individually assessed to ensure optimal capacity while preserving generous movement space throughout.
To achieve the required capacity within a compact footprint, BSC supplied Westminster Lockers in a two-door Z configuration, delivering 84 compartments efficiently without compromising circulation or user comfort. A further 27 three-tier lockers were introduced to increase capacity and provide flexibility across the changing areas. All lockers were manufactured with heavy-duty concealed hinges, robust steel construction, and vinyl numbering, with finishes coordinated across both male and female spaces to maintain visual consistency throughout.
Cantilever benching was integrated directly into locker runs, creating a clean and efficient layout while maintaining clear floor space beneath for ease of cleaning and maintenance. Hardwood bench slats were specified to elevate finish quality and provide a warm, tactile contrast to the steel locker units — reinforcing the premium feel of the workplace environment. A dedicated drying room, heated and ventilated for rapid clothes drying, was fitted with a purpose-built bench in matching hardwood, ensuring continuity of design language across all end-of-trip areas. All products were Made in Britain, with installation carried out with meticulous attention to alignment, levelling, and detailing in close coordination with the contractor team.
3 Rivergate now benefits from a high-quality end-of-trip facility that supports cycling, active travel, and employee wellbeing — future-proofed for long-term use and seamlessly aligned with the building's premium interior positioning. The project demonstrates how carefully planned, early-stage collaboration between BSC and the architectural team can produce end-of-trip facilities that enhance user experience without compromising design quality or durability.
