Sandstone is one of the most common types of sedimentary rock found in the world. Created over millions of years from deposited sand grains (weathered fragments of rocks) and other minerals that have compacted and lithified into an attractive and versatile material. The resulting stone has been a large part of the construction industry for centuries.
Paving was traditionally produced by splitting (or riving) layers from a block extracted from a quarry. Riven paving remains a popular choice today mainly for commercial conservation projects but also for the thriving domestic market. Sawn finish is mostly applied in the civils and commercial market.
Please note that these product properties are not a replacement for the manufacturer's literature and it is always recommended that Stonepave is consulted before specifying.
