Fine-Stripe Birch Plywood - A birch plywood core with B grade birch veneered faces Rotary cut, long grain, random matched birch strip veneers

Birch plywood availability is very limited since the sanctions imposed on Russia. In particular, long-grain B grade birch plywood or any decorative grade birch is very scarce. An alternative we offer is our Fine-Stripe veneered birch plywood. By using AB grade veneers (rather than one-piece faces) the yield of high grade material is increased.

The core panels are standard European birch plywood, made to industry standard tolerances, veneered both sides using AB grade European Birch.

The panels will be thicker due to the veneered faces (which are 0.55mm each side). Faces are sanded to 180 grit post production for a smooth surface ready for finishing. The joins are tight and smooth and these panels are suitable for cut to size, CNC work, machining and drilling. The strips are approx 100mm to 180mm wide. A single face will have veneer strips that vary in width. The veneers are quarter cut, book matched, 180 degrees (also known as mis-matched).

Birch naturally has colour variation and the yellow tone will vary from pale yellow to pink to light brown. This colour variation will occur in standard birch plywood, but is more broken up and randomised when strip veneers are used. Birch grain also has occasional iridescence and light reflection will not be uniform. This visual contrast is occasionally noticeable between joining veneers.

Both faces are plug free, knot free and of a high visual grade. Manufactured in Europe.
