A new green roof shaft variation now enables the use of retention components on intensive green roofs. Retention components, such as the SitaRetention Twist, then regulate the discharge rate and retention height exactly to the discharge rate permitted by the local authority. Protection against moss, algae, and the entry of foreign bodies is particularly important for the planned retention function. For this reason, the green roof shaft is covered with a closed-end plate which prevents the ingress of light and thus the formation of moss in the area of the retention component and the gully drain.
