Contractor: Bowmer & Kirkland
Architect: 5plus Architects
Project Value: £73.7k
Background
Located in the heart of Nottingham, Unity Square is the new UK Government Hub and is home to HM Revenue and Customs and other government departments. Completed in 2021, Unity Square is a Grade A office scheme accommodating more than 4,000 colleagues.
The Challenge
With the schemes environment consisting of a mixture of SR2, SR3, fire-rated and automated door sets, the complexity in the technical delivery was the foreseen challenge.
Installation took place during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic which meant having to quickly introduce new methods of working which would remain efficient for the client, developer and Rotec.
Our solution
Having worked with Bowmer and Kirkland on several projects to date, Rotec were appointed to manage the supply and install of the steel door package of x50 doors, that consist of x37 Standard Steel Doors andx13 LPS 1175 SR2 Security-Rated Steel Doors.
Early collaboration with numerous stakeholders including the automation sub-contractor company, gave us the technical information we required to set our steel door goals in delivering the desired access control systems.
Working under such unprecedented circumstances and continually changing restrictions, maintaining close communication with the architect and main contractor was key to achieving a successful project outcome. With our expertise in construction document control, our processes and systematic approach to deliver on time became the projects final success.
