A buff coloured Lower Carboniferous sandstone, which has been extracted from the High Nick Quarry, Northumberland since 1897.

High Nick Sandstone is mainly fine grained, beige to pale brown, with numerous fine iron spots found across the stone: a popular choice for traditional, natural Stone Walling across the North East of England and Yorkshire, High Nick has been extensively specified in urban residential and commercial developments requiring traditional walling and masonry products.
