Darney is a Lower Carboniferous fine to medium grained Sandstone; pale gold through, light buff to almost blonde in colour. Darney's heritage dates back to 1918, extracted from Darney quarry, located at Hexham, Northumberland.
Records show that Darney sandstone has been used since the late 19th and early 20th Century respectively in Scotland. Historic reference sites include significant landmark buildings, particularly in Edinburgh. Darney sandstone is suitable for most aspects of construction including load bearing masonry and cladding projects. Extensive reserves readily available.
