Award-Winning Entrance Matting for Major Film and TV Studios: 

Shadowbox Studios Shinfield is a UK purpose-built soundstage complex with 1 million square feet of production space. The site includes 18 soundstages for producing new film and television media, 7 workshops and 5 office buildings. It's been part of the creative journey for films Ghostbusters Frozen Empire, Star Wars: The Acolyte, as well as TV shows Last One Laughing, Squid Game: The Challenge.

The brief from international, award-winning architects Scott Brownrigg was sustainable and high-performance Entrance Matting. Having used INTRAsystems for several projects over the years, they knew our commitment to sustainability and quality Entrance Matting systems would be ideal. Westcotes Flooring Group installed the flooring across the site and won the Contract Flooring Journal (CFJ) Office Flooring Award in 2024 (of which our Entrance Matting was a part). 

Bold, Black and Robust: 

To reflect the modern black and dark grey material palette site-wide, Scott Brownrigg chose INTRAform DM Low Profile in black anodised aluminium across the entrances. The low-profile 12mm depth met the requiremenets across the different buildings, many of which have raised access flooring. In total, three entrance areas covered 40m2. 

They opted for INTRAlux Select fibre inserts in Black 208. The black fibre conceals dirt between cleans and rises to the challenge of sustained daily use. For more exposed and concentrated areas with higher traffic, including potential wheeled loads, we provided multi-directional rubber inserts to better wipe moisture and withstand more intense wear. 

Designed and Built to Last: 

INTRAform DM Low Profile is a closed construction system, which means dirt sits on the surface where it can be removed easily with regular vacuuming. The wider insert sections provide a higher surface area of fibre to remove more dirt and moisture than other products on the market. It's made of aluminium, so it will easily manage welcoming production crew, office staff, facilities teams, security personnel, contractors and visitors on a daily basis. 

INTRAlux Select is a hard-wearing cut fibre made of ECONYL® (a recycled nylon made from ocean plastics and post-consumer waste). The fibre inserts in Black 208 met the design palette and combined with the multi-directional rubber inserts in the revolving doors, look great. Together they manage moisture and dirt effectively to protect internal floor finishes and keep visitors safe from slips and trips. 

Simplifying a Complex Phased Project: 

A site and project of this size required careful coordination. The CFJ award submission noted the detailed specifications, drawings, schedules and site meetings across the multiple buildings. They chose our products which simplify the process. The DDA-compliant, interlocking planks of INTRAform DM make installation easier and quicker as they click into place without extra fixings or wires. And they can be cut to shape on site with hand tools. Particularly important for multi-phased programmes when schedules are tight and there are lots of trades on site with limited time or access. 

They also benefited from our UK stock and service team. We made sure everything was available exactly when and where they needed for a smooth install.
