High-Quality Branded Retail Matting:

The Bentall Centre is a prestigious shopping centre is a prestigious shopping centre in Kingston Upon Thames, Greater London. It's over 650,000 square feet, with 75 stores across 4 floors and 13 million annual visitors. The entrance mats work hard to make a positive first impression, minimise slip risk, protect flooring beyond, and limit cleaning costs. 

Before our involvement, the management team was battling moisture ingress, so they needed entrance matting combining practicality with a sleek appearance to complement the centre's high-quality modern aesthetic. With our support, they settled on a mixture of our inset aluminium matting system INTRAform DM and custom-branded secondary matting areas with INTRAlux Elite sheet fibre. 

Double the Protection:

With 13 million visitors a year, our brief was to deliver a positive brand impact that would help reduce the challenges of excess moisture entering the centre.

We recommended replacing the existing recessed matting and adding a secondary matting area using surface-mounted INTRAlux Elite sheet fibre. The zone of extended matting maximises moisture absorption and improves the overall entrance matting performance in a high-traffic environment. Enhancing safety and the centre's overall appearance, long-term. 

Impactful Custom Branding:

After exploring options for branded designs, the team chose the secondary matting to incorporate bespoke branding economically. After we provided colour and fibre samples, they chose INTRAlux Ultimate Stone 910 to create the inset lettering. We produced a range of designs and refined until everyone was happy. 

The precision-cut design adds impact for an extra warm welcome and will stand the test of welcoming so many visitors. 

Quick and Convenient: 

Bentall's management team also wanted to minimise inconvenience for visitors and avoid disrupting trading hours. INTRAform DM is our heavy-duty aluminium plank system with double-width inserts to absorb more moisture and scrub more dirt. 

It's closed construction means dirt can be easily cleaned with regular vacuuming. The interlocking planks slot into place with no extra wires or fixings. Plus, they can be cut with standard tools. Faster fitting minimises costs and inconvenience. The surface-mounted secondary matting is also easy to cut to shape and install with our DDA-compliant edging in the same anodised aluminium finish. Ampthill Flooring completed everything out of hours. 

Fine Black Details: 

The chosen black anodised finish and black fibres echo the modern design of the shopping centre and are practical. INTRAlux Elite is a hard-wearing fibre made from ECONYL®, a recycled yarn made from waste plastics. The combination of soft and coarse fibres scrapes large and fine debris from shoes and wheels. The dark colour with a slight marl hides dirt or stains better, keeping things looking fresh for year. It's an extremely popular and practical choice for retailers large and small. 

The Bentall team seized the opportunity to upgrade to a high-performance matting solution that enhances safety, improves moisture and dirt control, and supports the centre's overall appearance long-term. The centre now has an entrance matting system which performance beautifully.
