ACOUSTIBLOK 3MM - SUFFOLK ONE – ALL QUIET IN THE LIBRARY

A critical design factor of this striking oak pod college library at Suffolk One was the need for a high performance acoustic barrier which could form its complex shape.

The internal structure at Suffolk One, Ipswich which is built around a concrete suspended plinth and large scale steel girder frame, was lined with Acoustiblok’s thin and flexible membrane to ensure a quiet room for students.

TMJ Interiors of Suffolk responsible for the detail design and build of the structure at the Ipswich sixth form college, worked with Acoustiblok’s acousticians to produce a design (see illustration below) which, when tested as a flat section, achieved staggering acoustic ratings which were far and above the required levels.
