Standing the test of time - FOAMGLAS® insulation
FOAMGLAS® products maintain their strength and other properties consistently over time, as proven by tests conducted by the FIW Research Institute for Thermal Insulation. After nearly half a century in place, FOAMGLAS® roof insulation continues to exhibit the same performance characteristics as when it was initially installed.
Care home, Burcot
In the quaint village of Burcot, stands a care home with a remarkable secret: its flat roof has weathered more than three decades. Installed in 1989, the roof boasts a sturdy wooden substructure and a 90 mm layer of FOAMGLAS® insulation material.
Back in '89, the reference values were clear: a thermal conductivity (Lambda) of 0.045 W/mK and a compressive strength exceeding 500 kPa.
Fast-forward to FIW test results: The thermal conductivity (Lambda) remains steady at 0.048 W/mK, while the compressive strength, as the results show, has been revealed to be an impressive 1018 kPa. 🏠
