AZ Zeno hospital, Belgium: traffic roof

Inspired by the surrealist work of René Margritte, the AZ Zeno hospital in Belgium appears to float above the landscape and is dominated by light and nature, right down to the underground areas.
A clear decision was made to implement sustainable and energy-saving measures, without compromising on the high comfort requirements.
More specifically, FOAMGLAS® cellular glass was chosen for the basement roof, which can support foot traffic. FOAMGLAS® insulation has the advantage of being incompressible and supporting the weight of traffic thanks to its high compressive strength. In this way, it offers great protection for the underlying premises.
