Profile 22 windows selected on Bellway’s Future Hub site

16-07-2025

The Future Hub is Bellway’s latest innovation in sustainable housebuilding, designed to provide practical insights into the construction of low-carbon homes in line with the Future Homes Standard. The project comprises four showcase homes that integrate a range of llow-carbon technologies and building practices to support the industry’s transition towards

net zero housing.

The windows were supplied by SG Windows and feature high-performance Profile 22 triple glazed units with 44mm glazing, achieving the specified U-value of 0.83 W/m²K. This delivers exceptional thermal efficiency and enhanced acoustic performance, supporting the overall energy goals of the development. Each window is fitted with hardware from Safeware, part of the Epwin Group, showcasing the strength of a fully integrated, end-to end supply partnership from a single trusted source.

Profile 22 from Epwin Window Systems is one of the UK’s most specified PVC-U window and door systems. Its advanced multi-chambered design, paired with triple glazing, meets and exceeds the stringent energy performance demands expected from the Future Homes Standard. By reducing heat loss, enhancing airtightness and maximising solar gain, Profile 22 supports the wider goals of low-energy living without compromising on aesthetics or functionality.

Commenting on the project, Phil Parry, Technical Director at Epwin Window Systems, said: “We’re delighted that our Profile 22 windows have been selected for such a forwardthinking and nationally significant development. The Future Hub is more than a showcase, it’s a working blueprint for the homes of tomorrow. As the industry evolves, the role of energy-efficient fenestration becomes ever more critical and Epwin Window Systems is perfectly positioned to meet that challenge.”

The Future Hub is part of Bellway’s wider ‘Better with Bellway’ strategy, which puts sustainability, innovation and inclusivity at the heart of the company’s operations. These homes feature an impressive mix of low-carbon technologies, including air source heat pumps, solar PV panels, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) and enhanced insulation. The properties have also been designed with improved accessibility in mind, incorporating features such as wider doorways and lower window heights, a testament to the flexibility of the Profile 22 system in meeting varied specification needs.

Crucially, the Future Hub serves as a live training centre for Bellway’s teams, subcontractors and the broader housebuilding community. By exposing and explaining the technologies behind the build, it offers hands-on learning to help accelerate the industry’s shift toward low-carbon construction.

Mathew McAdam, Managing Director for Bellway’s Manchester division, added: “The Future Hub gives a practical introduction to how we’ll build the homes of the future. From first fix to finished showhome, it offers real insight into how systems are installed, interact and perform making it an invaluable training tool for our teams and partners.”

The Future Hub has already gained national recognition, winning the NextGeneration Initiative’s 2024 Innovation Award and will continue to welcome visitors from across the construction and supply chain throughout 2025.

As the homebuilding industry embraces change, Epwin Window Systems remain at the forefront delivering the reliable, high-performance solutions needed to help housebuilders meet the challenges of a net zero future.
