Manor Green Play Area & Dog Park, Selsey

06-03-2026

eibe Play has built a strong partnership with Selsey Town Council over the years, beginning with the transformation of East Beach Play Area in 2011. In 2023, initial conversations began about reimagining Manor Green Playing Fields, an underused, unloved site that had become primarily a dog-walking route and was rarely enjoyed by families.

The Council’s ambitions were bold: create a flagship play space, introduce a new dog park, and design a signature play mound unlike anything else in the South East of England.

Discussions centred around celebrating Selsey’s heritage, particularly the historic Selsey-to-Chichester Tramway. Inspiration also came from abroad, where the Assistant Parish Clerk had seen a play mound offering diverse activities for children aged 2–12. The idea was to replicate this concept at Manor Green, giving the community something unique, inclusive, and exciting.

eibe Play translated these ideas into a vibrant concept that immediately captured the Council’s imagination. The designs featured:

The Selsey Play Tram – a central themed structure echoing the historic railway line, complete with a fully accessible wetpour safety surface and themed graphics.

Inclusive Equipment – including an Accessible Roundabout, Trampolines, Junior and Toddler Swing Frames, ensuring children of all ages and abilities could play together.

Tough Trail Activity Zone – a dynamic area for teenagers inspired by Ninja Warrior and Parkour, compliant with EN1176 safety standards.

The Rainbow Play Mound – the South East’s first of its kind, with climbing ladders, stepping logs, springing pads, a rotating barrel, and a choice of broad or tube slides.

A New Dog Park (Bark Park)– a safe, dedicated space for exercising and training dogs, encouraging social connection among local residents.

In late 2024, Selsey Town Council issued a tender for the scheme, and eibe Play’s proposal was selected. Construction began in June 2025, with the team working closely alongside the Council to ensure the play areas were accessible, inclusive, and engaging for every user.

By early September 2025 the project was completed just before the new school term started,. The grand opening was celebrated on a sunny afternoon, with hundreds of local families in attendance. eibe Play supported the event by sponsoring ice creams for children and dog treats for our four-legged visitors.

The new Manor Green Play Area and Dog Park have transformed the site into a community destination. What was once a little-used field is now alive with families, children, and dog walkers, creating a space that fosters wellbeing, activity, community spirit and togetherness.

eibe Play is proud to have delivered this landmark project and looks forward to continuing its successful partnership with Selsey Town Council, ensuring this and other play spaces thrive for many years to come.
