The extremely large and light kitchen space of this newly converted barn required something far more interesting than simply just sticking in a long island unit to fill the space; something that several other kitchen companies had proposed.
To soften the tall and long dimensions of the barn, Loxley created a vast double curved island unit as the focal point. As a family space, the island features a breakfast bar as well as plenty of work-surface area, clever food and ingredient storage and an additional sink for the homeowners, who are both keen cooks.
Whilst the catspaw oak blends perfectly with the ancient oak roof timbers and architectural features of the barn, the commission has been given an altogether contemporary look with its Stainless Steel plinths, handles, modern integrated appliances and plain edged Granite Worktops; proof indeed that good design can blend old and new with harmonious results.
The Typhoon Bordeaux granite worktops add a welcome splash of colour.
Please note that these product properties are not a replacement for the manufacturer's literature and it is always recommended that Edwin Loxley is consulted before specifying.
