Have you heard of SUDS - Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems?  SUDS is an approach to managing water at a given location to ensure that all the adverse consequences of heavy rainfall (so potential flooding) are mitigated as close to source as possible.  You may well come across a requirement to meet such types of control on your build project.

Filter Pave is one of the tools in the box to add to others in a designed system.  This happens to be an attractive way to manage surface run off in a practical and good looking way.

There are many types of SUDS systems being implemented across the UK and Ireland and we believe FilterPave is an integral part to some of these designs for the following reasons

The FilterPave® system acts as a natural filter for surface water.  Because FilterPave® absorbs hydrocarbons (e.g. spilled motor / gear oil or fuel residues) retaining them within the structure and promoting biological processes which convert the hydrocarbons into harmless by-products.

The special structure of the FilterPave® system prevents the surface spread of oily substances so limiting the risk of wider contamination.  Tests have shown that FilterPave®  can ‘bind’ up to 15kg of oily substance per cubic metre (University of Wisconsin).

The technologically advanced elastic resin helps combats the freeze/thaw effect and it is extremely tough and durable sustaining up to 2.7 tonnes of weight.

FilterPave is made from 100% recycled Glass. The glass is sourced and recycled right here in the UK. The UK based glass recycling company collects post consumer glass from local authorities across the UK and puts it through a rigorous recycling process

The use of recycled glass conserves raw materials, reduces energy consumption so reducing carbon footprint using glass in this way helps reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill.

Not all post consumer glass is recycled, only a small percentage is recycled the majority takes the costly and energy consuming trip to landfill.  Using recycled glass products helps reduce this valuable resource going to landfill.

Up to 228 typical glass drinks bottles of all colours are used in just 1 square metre of FilterPave.
