Delmatic celebrates 4 awards at the 2021 DALI Lighting Control Awards

01-02-2022

Delmatic’s DALI lighting management systems at Doha Metro won in the Infrastructure category, while Pavilions won in the Entertainment and Architectural category. High commendation was also received in the Entertainment and Architectural category for Qatar 2022 World Cup Stadiums, and in the Residential category for South Quay Plaza tower in Canary Wharf. The winning projects were selected by an international judging panel of lighting designers, lighting magazine editors, and representatives from global lighting organizations.

DALI, which stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, is a dedicated protocol for digital lighting control that enables the easy installation of robust, scalable and flexible lighting management networks. The DALI Lighting Awards are held by the DALI Alliance each year and recognises the very best use of DALI lighting control applications and solutions around the world. Delmatic’s outstanding achievement at the 2021 DALI Awards is testament to our commitment in the design and application of cutting-edge DALI-2 lighting management systems comprising DALI-qualified controllers and devices.

Thank you to the judges as well as the project and Delmatic teams who have contributed to these showcase DALI solutions.

WINNER: Doha Metro - Infrastructure category

Delmatic’s DALI lighting management systems provide energy-efficient scene-setting control across 37 Doha Metro stations, monitoring 134,000 DALI assets and contributing to an architectural lighting scheme that reflects Qatar’s heritage. The ‘vaulted spaces’ architecture directs daylight deep into the station’s interior, and the DALI systems dynamically adjust lighting to replicate the effects of daylight in subterranean areas. DALI sensors adjust lighting levels according to occupancy and daylight, and the integrated light lines along the station’s ceiling and pillars double as wayfinding elements for passengers. The judges praised the strong use of DALI combining with architectural lighting design elements that bring light underground and create a comfortable environment for travellers.

HIGHLY COMMENDED: 2022 World Cup Stadiums - Entertainment & Architectural category

The extensive DALI systems comprise 90,000 DALI lamps, 5,000 DALI sensors, 2,300 DALI switches plus DALI controllers and devices, and a further 10,000 DALI emergency lamps. Delmatic’s DALI solutions provide addressable scene-setting of normal, emergency and decorative lighting across the stadium canopies and façades. The stadiums were highly commended by the judges for their impressive array of DALI technical features including sharing sensor data to maximize efficiency and sustainability of lighting and connected services as well as tracking stadiums’ energy usage.

HIGHLY COMMENDED: South Quay Plaza - Residential category

Delmatic’s DALI systems provide accurate, energy-efficient digital management and monitoring of the entire normal lighting, emergency lighting and battery packs throughout the 68-storey building. The modular DALI system is a completely flexible and scalable solution for seamless extension into fit-out areas, residential amenity spaces and subsequent towers within the estate, to form a complete site-wide DALI system on a shared IP network. The judges commented on the excellent use of DALI, particularly in the shared amenity spaces of the landmark residential tower.
