Chemical scrubbers

Water and chemical scrubbers can be used where there is a need to remove particulate matter from an exhaust gas stream and/or soluble gases.

As there are a number of different types of scrubbers available the correct scrubber selection is dependent on a number of factors including temperature, contaminants to be removed, available space and desired removal efficiency.

Some types of scrubbers are mainly designed to remove particulate contaminants (e.g. venture scrubbers) and others are designed to remove gaseous contaminants or soluble particulates (e.g. packed towers). Depending on the application, there may be a need to incorporate a series of different types of scrubbers in a bid to condition the gas stream for optimum removal of additional contaminants further up stream in the process.
