Briton 2130B TE

by Allegion (UK)

The Briton 2130B.TE electromagnetic hold-open door control fulfils a special role in the Briton 2100 Series. It is specifically designed for high quality specifications which need a door control but where the volume of people demands that flow is not impeded.

Typical applications include cinema foyers and hospital corridors.

Neatly concealing an electromagnet in the slide track, the electromechanical Briton 2130B.TE holds the door fully open during normal use and is connected to the building fire alarm system. Upon activation of the fire alarm, or in the event of power failure, the electromagnet is deactivated and releases the door closer mechanism which, in turn, closes the door in a normal, controlled manner to maintain the fire door status.

Electromagnetic hold-open door controls are recommended for applications designed to meet the levels of accessibility outlined in the Disability Discrimination Act and to satisfy the requirements of Approved Document M:2004 of the Building Regulations, which classes them as 'preferred solutions'.
